Random Tables

Random tables provide a list of pre-determined outcomes for common aspects of the game such as random events, or the consequences of typical actions.

In the game system, the director is called upon to make frequent decisions related to random aspects of the game world including world events, or the positive or negative consequences related to player character actions. Chance Rolls describe using a dice roll to determine random outcomes. Chance rolls work well when combined with random tables.

Random tables can help reduce the workload on directors by allowing some decisions to be delegated to a table of pre-determined options. They can also make the game feel more genuinely unpredictable and exciting by knowing the results of their actions are being determined by chance through dice rather than by director fiat.
